Most modern software is packages you did not write. SCA builds an inventory: known CVEs, license mismatches, and unmaintained dependencies become visible. Supply-chain incidents, a critical library patch, or a customer questionnaire grow this need. SCA does not replace source review or SAST; it talks component risk, not your own business-logic bugs. Without lockfiles or repo access, the scan is blind.
TARGON does not leave SCA as thousands of red rows. Which repos are scanned, how false positives are dropped, and patch priority by CVSS and business impact are cut by the technical team. The application-security line talks to SAST, DAST, and pentest so the same issue is not inflated in three reports. TARGON is not positioned as a vendor SCA reseller; component risk is turned into a corporate report and action list. Taking SCA from TARGON manages third-party software risk with the same pentest counterpart.
